Job Summary
The Director of Basketball Operations assists the Head Coach in the administration of all aspects of the sport program including: daily office operations, student-athlete services, recruiting, contest scheduling, supervision of sports personnel, budget management, and the coordination of travel itineraries and day-to-day in season and offseason logistics which includesteam meals; transportation; video; meeting rooms; film exchange; and etc.
The Director of Basketball Operations ensures the program compliance with NCAA, Big East Conference and University rules and regulations and will represent the University and the Vincentian Mission of St. John’s while also emulating the Athletic Department’s “Expect to Win” culture.
Essential Functions
Essential functions of the Director of Basketball Operations include but are not limited to:
Recruiting, hiring, and overseeing the student managers.
Serving as team travel coordinator throughout the season by arranging meals, lodging, and ground and air transportation and working closely with St. John’s travel agency, Anthony Travel.
Arranging for pre- and postgame meals, per diem, and/or team meals during the vacation periods.
Serving as the on-campus housing coordinator for the student-athletes.
Assisting in the management of academic and all other campus programming or issues.
Managing game contracts.
Working day-to-day with student workers and the executive assistant.
Serving as budget coordinator through working with the women’s basketball sport administrator on monthly expenditures and evaluation of needs.
Assisting in the organization of camps and clinics while serving as the assistant camp director.
Providing appropriate and effective feedback to the head coach and staff.
Establishing and maintaining a working knowledge of the NCAA and Big East Conference rules and regulations and St. John’s University policies and procedures by implementing these operating guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure 100% compliance throughout the calendar year for all personnel associated with the program.
Maintaining a harmonious and professional working relationship with the head coach, the athletic director and his or her staff, the program's assistant coaches, coaches of other University teams, other administrative employees involved with the program, and the Department of Athletics.
Performing other duties assigned by the head coach and staff.

Working knowledge of NCAA and Big East Rules and regulations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position monitors the student managers and graduate assistants.
Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced professional office environment and requires you to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, scanners, etc.
Physical Demands
While performing this job's duties, the employee must stand for extended periods of time.
Environmental Conditions
The Women’s Basketball Office is on the second floor of Taffner Field House. As a result, the employee must be able to walk up steps to get to their office.
This position operates in a professional office environment and is expected to represent the university on the road when traveling and at functional events.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is a full-time in-person position with varying hours: expected, at least, to be daily at 9 a.m. though 5:30/6 p.m.
Travel
Applicant should expect a high frequency of travel during the championship season.
Required Education and Experience
1 – 3 years of college basketball operations experience.
Bachelor’s degree.
Valid driver’s license.
Background checks required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Graduate Degree (preferred)

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $72,500 -$82,500. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
