Introduction:

BTS(방탄소년단 / Bangtan Seonyeondan) is a 7-member group under BIGHITMUSICfromSouth Korea. Currently, they arethe most popular group in the world.BTS, if translated roughly inEnglish,means: "Bulletproof Boy Scouts". They are also known as "Bangtan Boys", or "Beyondthe Scene" (official rebranded in 2017). Although BTS has been around since 2010, they officially debuted on June 13,2013. Prior to their official debut, there were constant changes among the members; RM is the only member left from the original line up.

21st century pop icon, BTS members are: RM (29), Jin (31), Suga (30), J-Hope (29), Jimin (28), V (28) and Jungkook (26). Each member has his own unique charms but together, they have a wonderful, tight chemistry/bond that unifies them into aspectacular group. ARMY (Fans) sometimes refer to the following units among BTS:

Hyung line (Older members): RM, Jin, Suga, and J-Hope

Maknae line (Younger members): Jimin, V, and Jungkook

Rap Line: RM, Suga, and J-Hope

Vocal line: Jin, Jimin, V, andJungkook

Dance line: J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook

BTS have artistic freedom to experimentmany music styles, genre and sometimes the Rap Line sings and the Vocal Line raps etc.Since the beginning of their career, BTS members have all taken part in the creation of their music and outputs, with many members involved in creating the melody, writing lyrics, producing the song or taking part in the choreography and visual aspects of their outputs.Their authentic sincerity, passion, andhard work inovercoming various challenges throughout the years has made them very successful, respected, andloved by their fans, named A.R.M.Y (Adorable Representative MC for Youth).

BTS are currently focussing on their Solo projects and will proceed with their group project after all of them have enlisted in the ARMY (18 months). At the moment only Jin and j-hope are doing their Military service and will be discharged in 2024.

His family moved to Ilsan-gu when RM was a young child and so he grew up there. RM is the first BTS member scouted by Big Hit after a fellow artist's recommendation to audition back in 2010. At that time, he was a well-known, underground battle rapperby thenames: "Rap Monster and/or Runch Randa". Having outgrown both those names, his name is just RM now. During his first speech at the UN General Assembly in New YorkCity in 2018, he made a personal, yet powerful speech calling on the youth to 'speak up', to find and live their authentic self, and touching upon the importance ofself care and empowerment ofyouths (the quote above is taken from this speech). It has inspired many ARMY, becoming ananthem to those facing challenges in their daily lives.

RM is the officialleader of BTS and the onlymemberwho is fluent in English. He learned English by watching the DVDs of theAmerican TV show, "Friends," a gift from his mother. ARMY is used to seeing RM help the other members to express their thought in English andsometimes became theirtranslatorduring their interviews in US.It is well known that RM has a high IQ (148 when he was 15 years) and in the past joined Korean variety shows to solve problems. In addition, RM has a strong love and interest in the arts, various books and exploring nature. He evencoined the word "Namjooning" that the fandom adopted to describe thishabit of taking time to just relax, think and get in touch with nature.This activity is important to his music making process and especially in writing poetic and meaningfullyrics which is essential in BTS music.

Although RMis the youngestamongSuga,Jin and J-Hope,they respect him as a charismatic leader. His maturity, humbleness, and ability to lead by example has also earned the respect of the 'Maknae Line,' or youngestmembers.It is with his leadership, their humbleness and strong love and respect for each other that is key to BTS's success.

JIN (KIM SEOKJIN)

Initially, Jin was auniversity student with an intention to become an actor. After being scouted on the street by Big Hit, he became inspired to become a singer and has worked diligently as a member of BTS to improve his vocals and skills as a musician, including playing the piano, learning instruments, writing songs and producing, e.g. latest project BE.

As the oldest BTS member, he does not use his position as "the eldest" in relation to his interaction with other members (despite Asian society placing emphasis on social hierarchy base on age).Due to his handsome "visuals", Jin is also affectionatelywell known as "Mr. World Wide Handsome" among the members and fans and it is now a long running joke. In addition, Jin is an amazing cook! He can be seen cooking for other members and on the various media content.He used to have a food vlog, called: "Eat Jin," which fans can see him eating various food deliciously either alone or with the BTS members as guests. Lastly, Jin has a wonderful sense of humor - helikes to tell jokes and make everyone laugh.

SUGA (MIN YOONGI)

Suga was born in Daegu, South Korea. He started writing songs and learned about MIDI when he was 13 years old.He was also an underground rapper, named "Gloss," and known for his rapid-fire rhymes. His current stage-name, "Suga," isderived from the word"shooting guard" due to his love for basketball. He originally joined Big Hit as a 'producer' but ended up as a member of BTS. Despite being a member of BTS, Suga continues to produce many BTS songs as well as works for other artists, including those that inspired him into becoming a musician.

Among fans, Suga is known to be the quieter and sometimes more shy when compared to other members. However, he can bevery vocal about a wide range of topics, ranging from mental health to politics. He openly expresses his thoughts through his own mixtape, where he uses the name: "Agust D" (Suga spelled backwards and a homage to Daegu). Army has also called him "Minstradamus" for being able to "predict" future BTS achievements correctly (e.g. wanting a #1 on the Billboards chart or performing at the Grammy's etc.). Related to this, you can see Army often using the following phrase: "What Yoongi wants, Yoongi gets!"

J-HOPE (JUNG HOSEOK)

J-Hope was born in Gwangju, South Korea. Being proud, he likes to reference his hometown in his songs. Prior to joining Big Hit,J-hope was a well-known street dancer. While a trainee at Big Hit, he was featured in other artists' work, such as rapping inJo Kwon's "Animal". Not many people realized that he only learned how to rap after he became a member of BTS. He is also affectionately called "Hobi"or "Sunshine" by members and ARMYbecause of his bright, hopeful personality. His smile is often what people notice first about J-Hope, especially when he dances. J-Hope used to have a YT segment called:"Hope On The Street" to showcase his various danceskills.

Among the BTS members,he is well-known as a "strict dance leader" and often working to mentor other members to improve their dance skills. Recently, he mentioned that the members have become better at dancing after being together for so long that he doesn't need to be strict as before. J-Hope also has produced his mix-tape "Hope World" (2018) and a released a homage cover single and music video for "Chicken Noodle Soup ft. Becky G" (2019) with full support of the original creator of the song. J-Hope is also known to be organized/neat, unique sense of fashion among the members and never miss to share a selca on their Twitter for every occasion.

JIMIN (PARK JIMIN)

Jimin was born in Busan, South Korea. Prior to joining Big Hit, he was a student at the Busan High School of Arts where he was training in modern dance. It was at his teacher's urging that he attended Big Hit audition and became a trainee.He moved to Seoul and was a student there together with V. Jimin was the last member to join BTS before their official debutand he is well known among members to be the hardest working during their trainee days. Jimin is well regarded for his sharp, clean dance movements,unique singing voice, and hisadorable, affectionatepersonality. For their latest album, BE, Jimin was the Project Manager for the special album.

Since Jimin and V are the same age, the pair used to tease and prank other BTS members often when they were younger. Overtime, their friendship has only gotten stronger and the 'soulmates' created a special song called 'Friends' for the Map of the Soul: 7 album in 2020. As both Jimin and Jungkook are from Busan, when they have little arguments or bicker, Jiminlikes to tease Jungkook by saying he's born earlier.

V (KIM TAEHYUNG)

Vwas born in Daegu andthen moved to Geochang, where he lived with his family before joining Big Hit as a trainee. V was actually accompanying his friend to the audition when he was noticed by Big Hit staff. Big Hit did not reveal V as a member prior to their official debut; he was a 'hidden member' until 2013.until 2013. V is known for his unique, low voice that is often described as 'soulful' and touching by listeners. Currently, Army is awaiting his upcoming mixtape, which may be releasedbefore the end of 2020. However, one of his songs, "Blue &Grey" has taken from the mixtape and included in their latest album, BE.

Besides being a musician, V also acted in a Korean historical drama called, "Hwarang". He and Jin also contributed to the drama's official soundtrack with a song called, "It's Definitely You."V is also known for his good looks, visual and various facial expressions during performances, media and content. Even a few younger idols chose him as their idol.In 2017, V received first place as the“Top 100 Most Handsome Faces of 2017“. V is also known for his love of photography and the arts. He has pseudeonym 'Vante' for his photography projects.As for their album,BE, V was the album's Visual Director.

JUNGKOOK (JEON JUNGKOOK)

Jungkook was born in Busan, South Korea. He is called the "golden maknae(youngest)" by members of BTS because he is good at everything (literally - he is good at everything!) Jungkook has also composed several songs: "Magic Shop: from the Love Yourself: Tear album, "Your Eyes Tell" from the Japanese album: Map of the Soul The Journey, and "Stay" from their album, BE. In addition tosinging, composing, andproducing, Jungkookis also athletic - good at many sports, excels atdrawing, cooking, photography,video editing, and directingetc. He became a trainee at the young age of 13 and chose Big Hit Entertainment specifically because of RM.

Jungkook is also called JK by other members and ARMY. He grew up well as the other members of BTS took care and mentored him since he was a teenager. Their bond can be seen in Jungkook'ssolo song called, "Begin;" where he expressedhis thanks and emotions for theother members. Lastly, JKalso hasa studio called: "Golden Closet," where he also produced a series of videos (which are ARMY's favorites) under GCF (Golden Closet Film). With the skills that he developed, JK was the leaddirectorfor the MV of "Life Goes On" (BE, 2020).
