As someone who was born with a facial difference, I know how vital the work of AboutFace is. As the only charity in Canada that supports people with facial differences across the country, AboutFace fills gaps that many people do not know exist. Existing as someone with a facial difference in a world that hasn't adjusted to people with differences is extraordinarily difficult at times. It seems that everywhere I go, I get stares from strangers who often pity or devalue me. Existing on social media is even more complicated, as a lot of people are keen to learn about facial differences but the negative comments ("what's with your face?" or "why do you look like that?") are difficult to navigate. AboutFace is here for me, and for countless others in the facial difference community. The resources are invaluable, and the sense of community can not be duplicated. AboutFace can not continue these resources or programs without your support.
